powertrain

The heart of the Black Mamba is a Roush 4.6L Ford Modular 3V engine. Based on a fully forged Roush short block, the snake breathes through a ROUSHcharger? R2300 supercharger system. The ROUSHcharger? R2300 utilizes Eaton? new Twin Vortices Series? technology. The patented design on this supercharger system features a four-lobe rotor and high-flow inlet which greatly enhances thermal efficiency, higher volume capacity, and higher operational speeds.

Extending the power potential of this setup is an intercooler and upgraded BDR aluminum radiator. With final tuning completed on a chassis dynamometer to ensure the entire system is performing to its full potential. Power is channeled to the rear tires via a Tremec TKO-600 5 speed transmission.

Without the proper suspension and braking system to harness that much power a supercar is worthless. VMS has enhanced the running gear of the standard Backdraft Roadster to ensure this car is up to the task. Upgrades to the standard Backdraft rolling chassis include:

NO CHROME Chrome is so yesterday. That also goes for polished stainless and other shiny bits. The Black Mamba gets a matte finish to all trimwork, wheels, sidepipes, rollbar, bumpers, etc. Think stealth fighter.

PAINT OPTIONS Paint schemes for the Black Mamba are similarly unique. Modern colors and combinations of stripes and finishes are the styles here. Instead of a double stripe, how about a super stripe with a wide band and two chasers? Or perhaps a subtle matte black band? The Black Mamba is not a replica, it is an expression of the owner and a statement of the extreme performance it is capable of.

LIGHTING Headlights are modern HID style with both high and low beam function. Indicator, parking, and brake lamps are ultra high intensity LED arrays for greater visibility at night and in extreme sun.

AERODYNAMICS Optional front apron, rear spoiler, hard shell tonneau cover, and race wind screen can enhance the look and performance of the Black Mamba. Front apron dramatically increases stability when exceeding 130mph. Please enquire if you would like additional information on these options.

NO CHROME The no chrome rule extends into the interior. Items like door sill plates, shifter handles, brake handle, and seat belt bezels all get the matte treatment.

DASH The Black Mamba features a Carbon Fiber dash panel outfitted with aviation style gauges. Switches, knobs, and buttons are all upgraded components over the standard Backdraft fare.
